New registration rules for foreigners in Russia Our offer of English speaking assitance , to make the process easier. This is the new registration rules that were issued on January 15, 2007. Registration of a foreign citizen visiting Russia on a tourist or business visa by the local migration authorities must take place within the three days upon arrival at Russia. The receiving entity (the actual host company, person or hotel a foreign citizen is visiting in Russia) must complete all the paperwork. The original inviting letter from the organization or a hotel entered at the invitation is not always the same as the receiving entity. The hotel a person stays in is to take care of the registration. In case a foreigner stays at a private apartment, the landlord must register the visa as a tourist or a business one. This may be carried out at the local police precinct in Moscow and in Federal Migration Service (OVIR) at other cities. A notification form has to be filled out by the landlord, and the visitor??â„¢s passport and migration card details should also be included. The form can then be sent by registered mail to the postal address of the local police precinct/FMS office. The landlord must be registered at the same apartment. He will have to present his passport at any FMS office or at the post office. Notification form consists of two parts separated by a puncture line. The main part leaves with the authorities, while the tear off receipt must be kept by the foreigner during the whole time of the visit and be presented to the authorities upon request. In order to prevent the authorities??â„¢ assuming that the visa is overstayed, a foreigner must return the tear off receipt to the landlord before leaving Russia. The landlord must submit it to the migration authorities within 24 hours. The punitive sanctions for not doing so may result in fining a person together with a receiving entity or in placing a person in one of the black lists maintained by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which might cause trouble with future travels to the Russian Federation. It is due to the actual host company or hotel to take care of the registration. This is not the responsibility of an inviting organization listed in a visa support or a hotel listed in a voucher. The tourist vouchers of the customers traveling on a tourist visa have a hotel entered that is ???paid in full???. This is a form accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The customers will not be provided with a prepaid room at a hotel unless they have booked the hotel via our company and have paid for their lodgings. An actual hotel booking is not included in the tourist voucher price. The new registration procedure promises to be not that difficult. For any additional assistance, please contact us.
